O’Brien Chartered Building Surveyors was founded in 1987 and since that time has grown in size and reputation and now has offices in Southernhay, Exeter and Totnes in the South Hams. We have developed a specialisation in dealing with listed and period residential and commercial property and advise clients extensively on ownership, refurbishment and improvement of these types of buildings.

In addition to those services, we provide specialised building surveying services for pre purchase surveys, generally referred to as Full Building Surveys and we have developed our own special fast track way of dealing with this type of work.

Parallel with the specialisation in residential survey work, we have expanded our commercial surveying services in the office shops, factory and commercial sectors providing clients with expertise in dilapidations, schedules of condition and project management. We aim to continue to provide clients with the highest possible level of professional skills, advice and attention. We pride ourselves on our professional ability, and our friendly and personal services.

As time has passed our work has expanded from the south Devon area and we now carry out professional work within our field throughout the south of England, with a focus on period properties. We have carried out surveys and provided advice to clients regarding properties in Bath, Cheltenham, Bristol, Truro, Exeter, Taunton and other areas where listed buildings are more common than is the case elsewhere.

We are fully covered by Professional Indemnity Insurance. Copies of our certificate of insurance will be provided upon request.
